Digital Switchover

When we went through the Digital Switchover, space was created within the old TV spectrum to allow 4G mobile phone usage.

Now with the roll-out of the latest 5G services squeezing into the old tv spectrum it can be even more challenging to keep the wanted signals from being corrupted.

Most of these problems can be overcome by having a decent aerial installation.

Now, that doesn't mean trotting off to your local DIY store and buying their most expensive gold painted kit.  There isn't a 'best' type of aerial, it is the one that suits the requirements of your particular location that is the correct one. Having said that, in most cases a log-periodic aerial will be used these days due to its ability to reject unwanted signals, giving better directivity.

When we are called to rectify problems, the existing system is checked using a spectrum analyser so we can evaluate any incoming signals, to see if they should be there or not. The van will have a range of aerials, filters, amplifiers and kit required to complete virtually any job in one visit.

Give us a call to discuss your reception problem and you will receive free advice and an estimate over the phone.

There is no high pressure selling, ever!

YOUVIEW

If you want to record your (Freeview) digital programmes off the TV aerial, Youview is the name to look out for. Along with a large amount of free content there is an option for pay-per-view. As stated this is optional. This would seem to be a fairer option. Now you will be able to download your movies or whatever when it suits you.

As part of the free content, when you select the programme guide the display will show the next seven day's forward and the seven day's past This means if you have missed a programme a couple of day's ago, just select it and watch it, simple!

To be able to receive this content you will need a TV aerial and a broadband connection with   2mbps or more download speed. If you are more inclined to watch movies or fast moving sports then 4mbps download speed is prefered for better results.

FREETIME

Freetime is the satellite version of YouView. That is a receiver with a planner/guide for seven day's forward AND seven day's past. So, if you missed your Eastenders or Corrie click onto the relevent missed programme and watch it!

Any material viewed via 'catch up' is streamed through broadband. The picture quality will depend on the speed of your broadband connection, the more Mbps the better.
